South India, the antiquity of Amaravati dates back to 500 BCE. The stupa
was then adorned with limestone reliefs and free standing Buddha figures
It is located on the bank of river krishna within the Guntur district of Andhrapradesh. It is a small town and is basically famous for its AMARESWAR AMRAVATI TEMPLE of Lord SHIVA.
Amravati stupa was founded by an Emissary of Emperor ASHOKA and got its constructin completed in 2000 years a go!
